Alli's 5-year-old-check-up

This week, it was Alli going to the doctor, for a change, but just for a check up.  She was terrified she was going to get a shot even though I kept telling her no shots this time.  I thought she might have to have a finger prick for a hemoglobin check, but turns out our insurance doesn't cover that anymore, so she didn't have to get that either.
As we expected, she was super healthy and has exceeded her 5 year old milestones of being able to write her name, recongnize numbers and letters, and a few words. She's definitely well prepared for kindergarten!  She weighed in at 47lbs-80th percentile and she was 44 inches tall-75th percentile...She's SOLID!!
Alli's gymnastics class will be coming to an end next week, and I asked if she wanted to take the Spring 5- week class, and she said "no, she'd had enough gymnastics for now," so, we'll see what she'll have an interest in next...maybe we'll try some kind of sports like soccer.
Lauren's doing well.  She's got the chronic runny nose and cough, but I think it's more allergies than anything.  It's been 3 weeks since we've had any calls from school about concern for her.  Thank God!  We're also done with the RSV vaccines until November!  And, unless she gets sick, we don't have to go back to the pediatric pulmonologist until July!  The Spring and Summer will give us some information about how severe her CF is...if she's sick, while no one else usually is during the Spring and Summer, we'll know we'll have a difficult road ahead.  We're praying that she stays healthy during the those months...it's hard enough as it is.  We're also searching for someone to care for her at our home or theirs starting in September.  We're concerned that with her almost being mobile and putting everything in her mouth, that may be a recipe for disaster in the upcoming cold and flu season if she stays in daycare. So, we're also praying for Mary Poppins on a budget.
In other news, our Great Strides Team is doing great and will exceed our $5000 team goal. We're very grateful for everyone who is helping us fundraise, who has donated, and who have participated in our events.  We're looking forward to seeing you at the walk on May 18th at Heritage Park wearing your Lauren's Loafers t-shirts, of course!
